Rotary Club of Carson City in action! Ms. Amy Riddle, Science and STEM teacher at Eagle Valley Middle School was surprised with a $5,000 grant to fund Project F.L.O.W. (Future Leaders Observing Water). The grant will fund a student-led science initiative that will establish a permanent water quality monitoring station on the Carson River. More than 900 students in grades 6-8 at the school will engage through science classes.
Over the last thirty years Rotary Club of Carson City has given, approximately, a quarter of a million dollars to support the schools, the school district, teachers and most importantly, students; as well as annually awarding a Nevada college student a $12,000 scholarship. This is all in line with engaging one of the seven Rotary Areas of Focus, Education.
