A ROTARY FOUNDATION NEWSLETTER
Thank you for a remarkable year!
Rotarians and friends of Rotary responded with extraordinary generosity again during the 2010-11 Rotary year. Contributions to our Annual Programs Fund exceeded US$100 million for the fourth time in history, and we far surpassed our goal of $95.5 million. In fact, contributions to the Annual Programs Fund were the second-highest ever, at nearly $108 million. Thanks to each of you for your efforts and personal financial support.
2010-11 RI President Ray Klinginsmith and 2010-11 Foundation Trustee Chair Carl-Wilhelm Stenhammar appreciate your contributions. Watch their video message.
How to encourage all clubs to give
Rotarians who have persuaded all clubs in their district to contribute say an important factor is communicating in person. Read more tips.
Foundation Thought: Helping maintain our ability to do good in the world
"The Foundation belongs to us all. It is our greatest resource for doing good, and it is our responsibility to maintain its strength. I hope every Rotarian will join us by making a contribution to support the Foundation’s progress this year."2004-05 RI President Glenn E. Estess Sr. Download weekly Foundation Thoughts.
Get recognized with the Presidential Citation
If your club achieves a minimum US$ in Annual Programs Fund per capita contributions, has 100 percent member participation, and meets membership requirements, it is eligible to receive the 2011-12 Presidential Citation.
In addition, the top 15 certified clubs and districts will be eligible for onstage recognition at the 2012 RI Convention in Bangkok, Thailand, 6-9 May.
EREY made easy: online giving
The Rotary Foundation will launch a new online giving platform in October that enables donors to make one-time or recurring contributions. The new system can process contributions in multiple currencies and payment options while preserving existing tax benefits.
To check your contribution history through Member Access, you must have an e-mail address on file at Rotary International. (Submit e-mail addresses to data@rotary.org.)
Welcome Rotary’s new general secretary and CEO
On 1 July, we welcomed John Hewko as our new general secretary/CEO. Rotary’s Secretariat supports the activities of 34,000 Rotary clubs in over 200 countries and geographical areas, with a combined membership of 1.2 million. He has already become a member of the Foundation’s recurring giving program, TRF-DIRECT.
Make sure that other Rotarians know about The Rotary Foundation's humanitarian work. During November, your club might host speakers who are Foundation alumni or who have volunteered for humanitarian projects. Check out the Official Rotary International Group on LinkedIn for ideas, and share a few of your own.
The Rotary Video Magazine features inspiring videos of Rotarians involved in hunger, literacy, and other project areas. Show a video at a club meeting.
